Mozelle Huckabee, 82

Evelyn Mozelle Huckabee, 82, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at her home in Sagle, Idaho. Funeral Rites will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint.

Mozelle was born Dec. 16, 1941 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Wilburn and Louise McCabe. She married H. Charles Huckabee in Wichita Falls on Nov. 26, 1960. She went on to earn her degree in Art at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls.

She and Charles moved to Sandpoint in 1988. Mozelle worked as a substitute teacher in Bonner County. She was an artist, master gardener, and master quilter. In the summertime she could be found in her gardens and in the wintertime she kept busy with quilting, oil painting and needle work. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her four sons, Vincent (Cindy) Huckabee of Wichita Falls, Texas, Wilburn Huckabee (Della Smith) of Sagle, Idaho, Vernon Huckabee of Florida and Duke Huckabee of Orofino, Idaho; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Marie (James) Mitchell and Jenny Lou Kent all of Wichita Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Huckabee, one grandson Jonathan Huckabee and four brothers Fred, Emmett, Lee, and Jesse.
