Editor's note: This story was updated March 12 as Dan Rose has not filed a candidacy announcement for District 3.

Five county positions are up during this election cycle in Bonner County, and all candidate filings need to be submitted in full by Friday.

All paperwork for the open seats — Bonner County commissioner seats for districts 1 and 3, the assessor, sheriff and prosecutor — must be turned in completely by 5 p.m. March 15 to be considered.

Two candidates, Brian Riley and Brian Domke, have announced their campaign for District 1. Ron Korn and Dimitry Borisov have filed to run for District 3. Current District 3 Commissioner Luke Omodt is also running for reelection. As of today, the current assessor, prosecutor and sheriff are up for reelection, unopposed.

To file for candidacy, interested parties must either pay a $40 filing fee or provide five valid signatures from individuals within the county or district. Potential candidates must also mark which position they are running for as well as the party they plan to run under. Candidate information, residential address, and campaign finance information must also be filled out completely.

Any incorrect or missing information may void the candidate’s filing.

Anyone filing for a county position must be at least 21 years of age, a United States citizen and must have resided within the county for at least one year prior to the election date. Additional requirements must be met to run for county commissioner or prosecutor.

To file for a commissioner’s seat, individuals must have resided in the district they are running for, for at least 90 days prior to the election date and any petition signatures collected to run must be collected within that same district.

Prosecuting attorney candidates must reside within the county for at least 30 days prior to the election date and must be licensed to practice law in the state of Idaho.

Additionally, every precinct position in Bonner County is up for grabs this election cycle. Precinct candidates must provide their office information, the party they plan to run under, candidate information and residential address.

Precinct committeemen must be 18 years of age or older, a United States citizen and be a registered elector within that precinct for at least six months by the date of the election.

Forms for each position can be picked up at the Bonner County Administration Building or found online at bit.ly/3Tzinhr.

Multiple legislative seats are also up for election this year. So far, District 1 State Senator Scott Herndon has announced that he is running for reelection, as well as State Rep. Mark Sauter. Jim Woodward will run against Herndon in the primaries.

Karen Matthee is running for the District 1 Seat A in the State House of Representatives, while Kathryn Larson will run for Seat B.
