PREP BASEBALL: Little, Lehman lead Sandpoint to first win over CDA since 2009

| March 13, 2024 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Sophomore Mason Little and Junior Drew Lehman combined for five of Sandpoint’s six hits as the Bulldogs took down Coeur d’Alene for the first time since 2009 in Game 1 of a doubleheader at War Memorial Field on Tuesday night.

Junior Jorden Tyler hit into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded in the bottom of the first to bat in Sandpoint’s first run of 2024. In the second, Sandpoint stayed hot, getting back-to-back RBI singles from Little and Coleman Inge to extend the lead. After conceding four runs in the top half of the third, the Bulldogs rallied for five in the bottom half of the inning, a rally Lehman capped off with a two-run single to right field to extend Sandpoint's lead to 9-4. Sandpoint continued to pour it on, scoring four more runs between the fifth and sixth innings, three which came by a walk.

Game 2 results were not available before the deadline due to rain delays. A recap of Game 2 will be in Thursday’s paper.
