YOUTH SPORTS: The North 12U captures first win of season
LEWISTON — At a recent tournament held at Airport Park in Lewiston, The North 12U travel softball team recorded their first win of the season against the HCS Cutthroats 12U by a score of 12-11.
In the win, Jazlyn Thompson led The North with three RBI’s. Bella Danish threw 2 2/3 innings on the mound, striking out four and giving up just three earned runs. Throughout all four games that The North played, Danish pitched 13 2/3 innings and recorded an impressive 20 strikeouts.
Danish also led the team with four singles in four games. Cheyenne Smith added three singles of her own. Delaney Montgomery was the only player to record an extra-base hit, a double in the team’s first meeting against HCS.
“These girls have been indoors once a week since October,” head coach Bethanny Danish said. “We are so proud of how they did for their third day outside this season.”
