NEW 4-H CLUB ELECTS OFFICERS

The new 4-H horse club, Bits and Bridles elected Angie Hiatt, president; Lulu Faux, vice-president; Kerry Sisler, secretary; Tammy Hiatt, treasurer; Sarah Marienau, librarian and scrapbook; Johnna McDonald, hospitality.

RECEIVES GOD AND COUNTRY AWARD

Randy Welker, an eighth grader and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Welker, Sagle, received his God and Country Boy Scout Award at Sunday’s service at First Christian Church. Chuck Wigton made the presentation. Randy, a member of Sagle Troop 199, is the first troop member to receive the award and the first in Sandpoint in seven years.

HOUSEWARMING FOR WOOLSEYS

A surprise housewarming party was held in Mr. and Mrs. Bill Woolsey’s new home, when Bonner County Cattlemen and CowBelles gathered for a social evening. A decorated cake brought by the guests was served with coffee. Enjoying the party were Mr. and Mrs. Bud Trost and children, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Crandell, Mr. and Mrs. Art Burnett, Mr. and Mrs. Raynold Davis, Mr. and Mrs. George Falk, Mr. and Mrs. Denny Shields and son, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Cornie Poelstra, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bandy, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Jasman.

March 14, 1949 – BIRTHDAY PARTY

George Pentland celebrated his seventh birthday with a party at his home Tuesday. Guests played games and fished for gifts in a fish pond, after which Georgie showed the movie “Country Mouse and City Mouse.” Hamburgers and birthday cake were served to guests Karen Carlson, Haley King, Donnie Chandler, Donnie Magnuson, Dickie McEwen, Gary TeSelle, Donnella Schedler and John Pentland.

McKINNEYS TO MANAGE BELWOOD STORE

Mr. and Mrs. James McKinney arrived from Spokane to take charge of Belwood’s War Surplus and Hardware while Mr. and Mrs. N.M. Belwood are visiting California and Arizona. Mrs. McKinney is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Belwood. The McKinneys formerly lived at Colburn, Kootenai, and Sandpoint.

FIRE AT COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

Smoke from smoldering covers that caught fire in an improvised croup tent in which a baby had been treated at the Community hospital created some excitement Wednesday. A three-alarm fire call was sounded and volunteer firemen responded at once, taking the smoking covers and mattress out of the building. No great damage was done.
