SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Justice Services Department received permission to use excess revenue it received from housing extra juveniles last year in the Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center.

Justice Services Director Ron Stultz told Bonner County commissioners the extra revenue came from two counties — Boundary County and Lincoln County in Montana — as well as the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho for housing extra inmates that came from those areas.

“We received, this past year, unanticipated revenue from these contracts in the amount of $36,550, for a total of $56,550 that was collected on contract,” he said.

Stultz requested permission from the commissioners to allocate those funds to certain line items in the Justice Services budget so they can be utilized — primarily for paying staff for overtime and paying off previously accrued equity adjustments.

The board approved Stultz’s request unanimously.
