Herndon's column astounding in its correctness

| March 17, 2024 1:00 AM

Senator Scott Herndon’s Notes From Boise column in the Bonner Daily Bee is astounding in its correctness. Astounding, because his views are mostly whackamo and represent the craziness infecting our body politic. But I want to give credit where credit is due.

Herndon is supporting Idaho SB1252 which requires a declaration of war by the U.S. Congress before the Idaho National Guard can be sent into active duty combat. Think of all the combat we have backed into without calling it what it is — war.

The ramifications of that have been enormous in many ways (too many to discuss here).

Herndon's other correct move is opposing SB1245 and HB653, both protecting large corporations from civil actions pertaining to products such as harm from pesticides.

His only mistake is in glorifying the Idaho Freedom Caucus as the righteous savior of protecting our health. It may be the standard bearer in this instance, but in most respects, it is a loony outfit. Otherwise, well done, senator.
