March 21, 1974 – FINAL SUNDAY

March 24 will be the last Sunday the Sandpoint Christian Church congregation will meet in their old building. After 65 years of meeting at the corner of Forest and Cedar, the congregation is moving to its new building at Church and Division. The old building is a local landmark. Rev. Chuck Wigton has prepared a special sermon, and souvenir bulletins will be given to all attending the “final” service.

SEVEN BROWNIES JOIN SAGLE TROOP

Sagle Brownie Troop 506 held an investiture ceremony and party to welcome seven new members. After the ceremony, in which the second-year Brownies portrayed wise old owls in the magic forest, the girls served cake and ice cream to their parents. New members are Jenni Coleman, Karen Martin, Cari Wenig, Joan Sweeney, Kim Dozier, Joie Pittelko and Patti Brooks. Second year Brownies are Mary Sweeney, Jackie Pucci, Heidi Owenby, Laurie Bristow and Heidi Carson. Leaders are Susan Bristow and Margaret Dozier.

NEW HOURS FOR LICENSE BUREAU

Effective April 1, 1974, the Bonner County Driver’s License Bureau will begin six day a week service to the county, according to Sheriff Robert Wilcox, “so that better and more convenient service may be offered.” The department will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Driver’s licenses are administered by Nola Kohler and Marilyn Moline.

March 21, 1949 – CITY IN BRIEF

Lloyd Larson went last week to Hot Springs, Mont.

Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hall left Tuesday for Seattle, to spend five days at the annual Sportsmen’s show.

Albert Cozens, 805 Maple, who recently had an eye operation, has made an excellent recovery. 

Mrs. J.M. LaFond spent Wednesday in Spokane buying spring [millinery] stock for Easter trade. 

Miss Mary Sindelar of Dover was in Spokane over the week end. She visited her niece, Evelyn Ferguson, who is a student at Holy Names college.

Bob Ferguson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ferguson, Dover, returned to Gonzaga high school in Spokane after spending the week end at home.

Mrs. Clair Bloxom and Mrs. Joe Bloxom were week end guests of the Bob Bloxoms at Tekoa, Wash., where he is manager of the Safeway store.

Mrs. F. [Filomena] Pucci returned Monday to her home in Kellogg after spending the week end with her son, Gene, and his family.

UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO NEWS

Norman Carothers, Sandpoint, was master of ceremonies at a fashion show given by the Attic club, for U of I students in art and architecture. 

Patricia Patton, Sandpoint, is a new member of Hell Divers, a U of I group of swimming enthusiasts. 

Kappa Alpha Theta at U of I has elected Colleen Ebbe, Sandpoint, rushing chairman. New members are Margery Hunt and Patricia Patton of Sandpoint.
