Silent auction bids to fund Grad Night event
SANDPOINT — It can be a recipe for tragedy.
Recent grads, fresh off the stage with their newly minted diploma in hand, head off for a night of celebration with friends where, for some, that can mean a few drinks.
A group of local parents is working to prevent that potential from becoming a reality by organizing the annual Grad Night party for this year’s graduating seniors. But to make the annual event happen, they need the community’s help.
“It’s really important to raise money so that the kids are safe and sober after graduation,” Ericka Cox said, noting organizers have worked really hard to put together a fun evening.
To kick off their fundraising efforts, Grad Night organizers have planned a silent auction night at Eichardt’s on Tuesday, March 26, from 4-8 p.m. Among the baskets and prizes donated to the auction are items from Winter Ridge, Schweitzer, Dish, La Chic Boutique, and Evans Brothers.
In addition, a percentage of the food sold that night will benefit the Grad Night effort.
The goal is to raise $40,000 to support the Grad Night party, a safe and sober celebration for all members of the graduating Class of 2024. The annual celebration features a fun slate of games, fun, music, and more with plenty of prizes for the students and celebrations all night long.
The goal is to create a party where the new grads can gather with their friends and celebrate all night long.
Making that happen takes money — and that’s where the community comes in.
“It’s really important to raise money so that the kids are safe and sober after graduation,” Nicole Eacret said.
On Tuesday, everyone is invited to attend the silent auction, regardless of whether they have a student graduating or not. The Sandpoint High School combo band is providing the entertainment. All are invited to attend.
“This is a great opportunity to come out and support the graduating class,” Ericka Cox said.
