Support Jim Woodward for the Idaho Senate

| March 28, 2024 1:00 AM

I vote for the person, not the party, and I was appalled when Scott Herndon won in the 2022 Republican primary, ahead of my preferred candidate, Jim Woodward. May matters, folks! If you support Jim like I do, make sure you vote in the May 21 Republican primary so he will be on the November ballot.

Under our current closed Republican primary system, you must be registered as a Republican in order to participate in their primary May 21. If you are unaffiliated, you can do this at any time up until the election (more info at MayMatters.org). As always, you can vote for anyone from any party on the November ballot.

Jim is a strong supporter of public education while Herndon is opposed to public education. Herndon is a member of the Idaho Freedom Foundation, an ultraconservative lobbying group that supports diverting public funds from public to private schooling, among other issues on their national agenda. Idaho is already the lowest-ranking state in the country in terms of support for public schools!

In his first legislative session, Herndon voted against nearly all education budgets, including career technical education, and workforce education. He also voted against important agricultural issues, including funding the Soil and Water Conservation Commission, and controlling noxious weeds and the invasive quagga mussel. He also voted against support for veterans and the aging population, and against funding for our state police to combat the fentanyl crisis.

Jim Woodward works hard to represent the best interests of his constituents. He does this by being responsive to local questions and concerns. He is honest, intelligent, hardworking, and a genuinely nice guy who really cares about North Idaho. We are so lucky to have him running for our representative. Please remember to vote May 21 if you want to have a say in which Republican appears on the November ballot.
