COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Newhart drops 13 RBIs in doubleheader

Sandpoint product Cody Newhart went a combined 7-for-10 with three singles, three doubles, and a triple to go along with 13 RBIs and seven runs scored as the Falcons swept Luzerne County Community College 39-0 and 22-1 on Wednesday.
Newhart had nine RBIs and three of his extra-base hits in the first game and four RBIs in the second game. It was the most RBIs he has had in a game since April 7, when he had five on 2-for-6 hitting against Monroe County Community College. Just a freshman, Newhart now holds a .333 batting average on the season across 45 at-bats. He has knocked in 26 RBIs for the Falcons, who are currently riding a seven-game winning streak.
Lackawanna College (27-21) faces Community College of Baltimore (Essex) on Friday.
Forest Ambridge, Southern Virginia University Lacrosse
Sandpoint’s Forest Ambridge scored two goals for the Knights during a 25-5 win over Huntingdon College (Montgomery, Ala.) on Saturday, April 27. Ambridge scored in the second and third quarters to help lift Southern Virginia to victory. The goals were the first two of his collegiate career.
Southern Virginia (8-10) plays Piedmont in the USA South Conference Tournament Semifinals on Thursday.
