Newport chamber announces NextGen career fair
The Greater Newport Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the upcoming NextGen Network and Cusick Career Fair, sponsored by NEW Health.
The career fair is taking place at Cusick Jr./Sr. High School on May 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event aims to connect local businesses with talented high school students, fostering mentorship opportunities and career exploration for future generations.
The chamber invites local businesses of all sizes and industries to participate in this exciting event. The NextGen Network Career Fair provides a unique platform to:
⦁ Showcase your business: Introduce high school students to your company culture, career opportunities, and the value your organization brings to the community.
⦁ Invest in the future: Mentorship opportunities allow companies to connect with potential future employees and cultivate a strong local workforce.
⦁ Shape the next generation: Inspire students by demonstrating real-world applications of classroom knowledge and fostering interest in your field.
⦁ Interactive Learning: Engage and Inspire
Businesses are encouraged to bring interactive activities to their booths that highlight the practical aspects of careers within their field. This could include:
⦁ Hands-on demonstrations: Allow students to experience what a typical day might look like in your industry.
⦁ Skill-based challenges: Engage students in interactive activities that test their creativity, problem-solving skills, and knowledge relevant to your field.
⦁ Q&A sessions: Encourage student interaction with company representatives who can answer questions and provide valuable career insights.
