Need old newspapers for your garden?

SANDPOINT — As spring flowers begin to make their appearance, so do weeds.

So, if you're plotting out your garden but not looking forward to the inevitable weeds that will pop up along with your flowers and veggies, the Daily Bee can help with free newspapers from our recycle bins.

Area gardeners are welcome to come by the Daily Bee office, 310 Church St., to claim old newspapers out of our recycling bins to use as a barrier against weeds.

According to gardenguides.com, old newspapers are an inexpensive and green way to fight weeds. The website suggests layering newspapers over the grass or garden area, making sure the newspaper pages overlap and the barrier is thick, at least 5 to 10 sheets. Water thoroughly.

For more information about claiming old newspapers, stop by the Daily Bee at 310 Church St., or call 208-263-9534.
