Laura Claffey

| May 9, 2024 1:00 AM

Laura Feucht Claffey passed away May 3, 2024, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Complications arose and took her too soon. She took comfort in being surrounded by her family and best friend.

Born on April 28, 1969, she lived the first part of her life in Lewiston, Idaho, where she met the love of her life, Jason Claffey. She graduated Lewiston High in 1987 and set off on the new adventure of adulthood. She spent time in California but settled in the Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls areas, where she was hired and mentored by Police Chief Cliff Hayes with the Post Falls Police Department as a 911 dispatcher in 1990.

On May 7, 1994, she and Jason were united forever at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, surrounded by friends and family. They built the life she had always dreamed of. They found an old house in Sagle, Idaho, and spent two decades making it their own, having a big, beautiful yard, a few chickens, and, of course, a few beloved doggies.

She dreamed of being the best mother she could, and she did so well she even became a second mother and role model to a few lucky girls in her life throughout the years. She raised and helped raise three beautiful and successful women: her daughter Madison, stepdaughter Brittany, and niece Valerie.

She worked hard and was looking forward to retiring as the police chief's assistant after 35 years with the department. She was impossible not to like, and gained so many friends.

She looked forward to her quiet retirement life and hoped to fill it with camping, gardening, laughing and loving, spending time with those she cared for the most. She will be greatly missed by all.

Her service will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho, at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11.

Reception to follow at Ponderay Event Center, 401 Bonner Mall Way, Ponderay, Idaho.

Bell Tower Funeral Home is trusted with arrangements.
