We all need to use our voice and vote

| May 12, 2024 1:00 AM

In the 2020 presidential election, about 55% of registered 18-24-year-old voters came out to vote. To think, there are approximately 31.5 million 18-24 year olds. This means that only about 15 million of them voted. Don’t you think that more than 17 million votes could have a big impact on an election? I think so.

In Legislative District 1, there are thousands of 18-24-year-olds and I know that if they get out and vote, they can make a difference in this upcoming election on May 21. I applaud the 23% of that age group that came out to vote in the last election but it’s not enough. This age group is the future of our country and they need to start understanding that voting is how they are going to get their voice out there.

This May 21 is the date for the Idaho Primary election. During his time in the Idaho Senate from 2018-2022, Jim Woodward has proven that he is capable of making the best choices to represent us in District 1. This means that we have to help get him back there. For anyone who has yet to register to vote it's not too late. Go to your nearest polling place and register.

Just because you might not be here doesn’t mean that it’s not important to still care about what happens in your home. We all have a voice in how we are represented, you just need to use that voice.
