BCSF offering camp scholarships
If you're a local youth looking to attend camp this summer, the Bonner County Sportsmen's Foundation wants to hear from you.
The BCSF is offering two scholarships sponsoring youth between the ages of 10-12 to participate in this summer's Youth Conservation Camp. The Idaho Conservation Officers Association and the Idaho Department of Fish & Game are presenting the camp, which will be held Aug. 5-9 at Trinity Pines Camp in Cascade. Campers must be 10-12 years old Aug. 5 to participate.
"This is a great opportunity for a young boy or girl who wants to experience a fun week learning outdoor skills and completing Hunters Education," Tom Johnson, president of the Bonner County Sportsmen's Foundation, said.
The camp offers a wide variety of activities, and the only thing required of the participant is to bring their sleeping bag, clothes and smiles, Johnson said. All food, travel and fun are covered by the scholarship. Transportation to the camp is provided by Idaho Fish & Game.
The camp is hosted by IDF&G Conservation officers who chaperone the youths throughout the week, helping them learn or experience the outdoors in a way that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to do so.
"It's great fun, lots of activities, campfires and swimming, too," Johnson said.
If a Bonner County resident or their child is interested in this scholarship, have the child hand-write a letter to the Bonner County Sportsmen's Foundation telling the group why they want to attend. They need to include their age, address and phone number.
Letters must be postmarked by May 20. The recipient will be selected and notified by May 30. Letters should be sent to BCSA - ICOA Camp Scholarship, P.O. Box 1011, Sandpoint ID 83864.
