COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Lee runs new 400 hurdles best at Big Sky Championships

Rusty Lee, Eastern Washington University Track & Field

Sandpoint product Rusty Lee was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles at the Big Sky Conference Championships held May 8-11 at Montana State University. Lee ran a new personal best time of 55.10 seconds in the finals.

Payton Betz, Pacific (Oregon) University Track & Field

Sandpoint’s Payton Betz ran a new collegiate best in the 800-meter run, finishing 12th in 2:40.10 at the Portland Distance Carnival hosted by Lewis & Clark College on Saturday.

Abigail Gorton, Lewis-Clark State College Track & Field

Bonners Ferry alum Abigail Gorton picked up a third place finish in the 10,000-meter run (42:48.39) at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships held May 10-11 at Eastern Oregon University. 

Sara Hathaway, Lewis-Clark State College Track & Field

Former Wampus Cat Sara Hathaway placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.32) at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships.

Elisheva Davis, Spokane CC Track & Field

Priest River’s Elisheva Davis finished fourth in the triple jump at the Whitworth Last Chance Meet on May 8 after soaring to a new personal best mark of 32-4 ¼.

TJ Davis, Eastern Oregon University Track & Field

Sandpoint’s TJ Davis won the 110-meter hurdles (14.85) and placed third in the 400-meter hurdles (53.73) to pick up 16 points for the Mountaineers, who swept both the boys and girls team titles for the first time in school history. It’s the boys’ fourth consecutive CCC championship win.
