Mark Sauter working to help, solve problems
Why am I voting for Mark Sauter for Idaho State Representative 1A? First, let me say that I don’t always agree with some of Mark’s votes. I don’t have to agree all the time.
In good government, there must be compromise. Husbands and wives don’t always agree, and children and parents don’t always agree. You must pick your battles. A battle that Mark and I do agree is public access on state and federal grounds. In Bonner and Boundary counties, we have been battling access for motorized use on state endowment grounds. This isn’t the case in all of Idaho just the two northernmost counties. IDL foresters have taken upon themselves to gate and close off areas previously open to motorized access. When I refer to motorized access I’m talking about snowmobiles and ATVs.
I contacted my state representatives and Mark was the only one willing to take a stand and work with state agencies to see if the problem could be fixed. He has actively engaged with IDL and the state Land Board to see what can be done. This is a long process but Mark, along with our county commissioners are trying to fix this problem.
If we don’t take a stand, more and more areas are likely to be closed to motorized access. When you purchase your snowmobile or ATV tags a portion goes to IDL for recreation. It appears that our money is only going to close more areas.
Mark stands with us on motorized access and is continuing the battle.
That’s why I’m voting for Mark Sauter. He took a concern and is working to fix it.
