Crossing maintenance to close road

PONDERAY — An emergency closure of the Union Pacific railroad crossing will mean the closure of Kootenai Cutoff Road on Thursday, May 16.
Ponderay officials said the road is expected to be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to allow railroad crews to perform maintenance at the crossing.
Road Safe is currently dispatching message boards at the crossing to give motorists advance notice of the closure and to use alternate routes, city officials said.
