CLARK FORK — The Clark Fork Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10320 is partnering with the city of Clark Fork's Parks and Recreation Commission to upgrade the public playground at Veterans Memorial Field.

“Together, we want to build an area that not only will benefit our community's children now, but something that will benefit our future generations,” said VFW member Tel Thompson.

Thompson said the proposed play structure will accommodate up to 30 children at a time. There will be two more sets of swings, including a seat for toddlers. The VFW Post also plans to replace the old metal slide with new plastic slides.

“The city's Parks and Recreation Commission is working on projects to help create a better park and environment that everyone can enjoy and if we [VFW] can help our community, that is what we will do,” Thompson said. “Our greatest calling is to take care of our community and we hope that you'll help us make this dream a reality.”

Thompson has created a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for the planned upgrades with a goal of $30,000. Visit bit.ly/4bosTyn to donate. Individuals interested in a more hands-on way to participate in the upgrades can reach out to the Clark Fork Parks and Recreation Commission.

Veterans Memorial Park is located on the corner of Cedar Street and 9th Avenue.

The park's current structure does not allow for many children to play at one time.
