Obey God and follow the Sabbath

| May 19, 2024 1:00 AM

In the Daily Bee (March 29, 2024), Pastor Bud McConnaughey wrote a most inspiring gospel sermon and also mentioned 1962 when the Bible was banned from public schools which he feels is when atheists now had gotten their way.

But around the same time so were God's 10 Commandments done away with. Before this, replicas of these commands were on courthouse lawns, in churches, and in houses everywhere. Now they are gone, or they are ignored. Did the atheist cause this? Perhaps a little. No, the doing away with God's law was done by the churches themselves. Their problem being the fourth command of the ten.

Those who are old enough can recall that Sunday [believed to be the sabbath] was a beautiful day. There were no trucks on the road and factories, gas stations and supermarkets all were closed by law. With no major sports, everyone was free to go to church. However good this seemed, there are major problems with this. One is that Sunday is not the day God blessed and set aside to honor Him, meaning we are giving honor to the popes who changed the day back in the fourth century. Second, we do not want a socialist government to take away our freedoms and tell us how to follow God.

Along with millions of others, I, learning what Exodus 20 actually reads, put a sign on my business: "Closed Saturday by order of God." Now, were my atheist customers bothered by this? No, not a one. It was the professed Christians who told me I was wrong doing this because the Ten Commandments are no longer binding, we are now under grace.

Having a socialist government telling us what God wants must be of the devil, for God's way is that we worship and obey Him for who He is, the sacrifice Jesus went through to save us, hereby showing His love.

My suggestion is to obey God and for all churches to preach the benefits of the Sabbath from the Bible with perhaps Sunday services still there for those who love tradition more. God bless us as He did on the seventh day.
