BCSO boat finds temporary home
SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Sheriff Marine Division’s boat will be moored at a different dock for the foreseeable future due to lower than normal lake levels.
During the Bonner County commissioners’ Tuesday meeting, Lt. Doug McGreachy told the board that the department was requesting approval for an agreement with Holiday Shore Marina, located in Hope, to moor the boat until lake levels are raised.
“This agreement is necessary due to the delayed [elevation] in Lake Pend Oreille, which has prevented the marine division from mooring the patrol vessel at the county dock,” he said.
Holiday Shores Marina has offered this space to the sheriff’s department at no cost to the county, McGreachy told commissioners. The boat would have permission to moor at the dock until July 15, or until lake levels allow watercraft to safely moor at the county dock.
“That was very generous of them,” Commissioner Steve Bradshaw said. “Tell them we said thanks.”
Commissioner Luke Omodt agreed, saying the space is coming to the county for the right price.
The agreement between the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office and Holiday Shores Marina was unanimously approved by the commissioners.
