| May 22, 2024 1:00 AM

As the 2024 season begins for the Spirit Lake Historical Society and Museum, officials said they are again grateful for the community's interest in the group.

The museum is open Saturdays from 1 to 4  p.m. from Memorial weekend through September. It is free to visit.

The community is invited to help kick off the new season at an open house Saturday, May 25, from 1 to 4 p.m.

At 1:30 p.m., museum officials will host a historical conversation with Paul Hamacher and Tim Dolan. Old-time music with Jim and Jo Foss and Brad Sondahl will follow.

Refreshments will be served.

The museum is located in the historic 1911 Lutheran Church building, 6029 East Jefferson at the corner of Jefferson and Sixth Ave. Parking is in front of the museum and First Lutheran allows parking in its lot.

"We are so pleased to have these speakers share stories from the past together," Althea Sondahl, historical society board president, said. "Both of them have generations of history here and we are privileged to have them with us."
