LEGION BASEBALL: 19U Lakers start off season with sweep of Moscow
SANDPOINT — Jorden Tyler went 4-for-4 with seven RBIs in the first game and the 19U North Idaho Lakers went on to defeat the Blue Devils 24-1 and 14-3 at War Memorial Field on Saturday.
In the first game, the Lakers used a 9-run third inning and an 11-run fourth to seal the deal. In addition to Tyler’s big game, Mason Little went 4-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs, Soren Caprio was 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs, and Gavin Day and Sage Medeiros both went 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles each. On the mound, Dallen Williams captured the win, striking out eight batters and giving up just one hit over three innings of work.
In the second game, it was much of the same for the Lakers, who started out the game by scoring 14 runs in the first inning. Little led the way with two more singles for a total of six hits on the day. Williams had a bases-clearing triple, Finn Mellander an RBI double, for North Idaho. Medeiros was credited with the win after a solid outing on the mound, striking out five and allowing just one hit, three walks, and one earned run across three innings.
North Idaho (2-0) will travel to Coeur d’Alene to face the Lumbermen on Wednesday.
