| May 29, 2024 1:00 AM

The following Sandpoint girls’ lacrosse athletes received Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association East Division Honors for their efforts this season.

Eva Sloan (Goalie)

Eva, a senior, played in goal every single game this season for the Bulldogs. She recorded one of only four shutouts in the state of Washington out of 282 total games — that shutout came during a 14-0 home win over Mead.

Rowan Davis (Midfield)

Rowan, a senior, led the Bulldogs in goals (36), ground balls (33) and caused turnovers (22) this season. Her most notable outing of the season came against Gonzaga Prep, where she scored a season-high five goals, including one during the final seconds, to lift the Bulldogs to a 9-7 victory.

Terra Bode (Midfield)

Terra, a senior, led the Bulldogs at draw this season with a team-high 29 controls. She also tallied four goals and three assists.

Cassidy Aitken (Attack)

Cassidy, a senior, led the Bulldogs in assists with 12 while adding an impressive 29 goals. She recorded two goals and two assists in a win over Gonzaga Prep.

Tess Sloan (Attack)

Tess, a sophomore, was all over the field this year. She scored a season-high two goals against Richland-Hanford and two against the east division conference champions, the Spokane Stealth.

Comments

Although the WSLA’s new website didn’t keep official individual stats this year, Davis and Aitken are believed to be among the top in regards to goals scored per number of games played.

“This is the most players Sandpoint has ever had make the all-conference team, and in my opinion, we easily could have had a number of defenders make that team as well,” head coach Nancy Dooley said. “I am proud of these girls for being recognized. It is a testament to their hard work and to Sandpoint’s effort to continue to hold ourselves to an increasingly higher level of play. I am so impressed with the effort of our entire team. These athletes played as a unified, cohesive group and they continually pushed themselves to excel.”

Dooley said she is sad to say goodbye to the team’s six amazing seniors — Cassidy Aitken, Rowan Davis, Terra Bode, Sadie Dignan, Kayla Beers and Eva Sloan. “They have been true leaders of our team and it will be tough to fill their shoes,” Dooley said.

As for next year, 10 freshmen are expected to join the Sandpoint’s varsity squad team, all of whom have at least two years of experience playing lacrosse … some with as many as five years of experience.

“We also have a nice group of highly skilled players from this year’s team returning, so, expect big happenings from Sandpoint girls lacrosse next year,” Dooley said.
