PONDERAY — Union Pacific will be closing two of its railroad crossings in the Ponderay area June 1-3 for maintenance and repairs.

The two crossings in question are located on Highway 200 near Dalby Drive, just north of the Highway 200 interchange with U.S. 95.

“Our team will be doing a complete crossing replacement with new crossing pads and asphalt approaches to the crossings as well as new rail,” Union Pacific senior communications manager Mike Jaixen said. “We're working both crossings simultaneously to minimize the impact to the community.”

Jaixen said the crossing replacement is intended to not only ensure safe rail operations for traveling trains but also to maintain safe vehicle traffic on the highway as they cross the tracks.

Work will begin early Saturday morning, June 1, and should be completed by Monday, June 3, at 3 p.m., Jaixen said. Detours will be in place until the work is completed.
