PRIEST RIVER — The day after the West Bonner County School District signaled it would likely close at least two schools, district officials learned that one of two finalists for its open superintendent positions was withdrawing from consideration.

Dr. Robbie Swint Jr., who is in charge of supervisory training management for the Department of Defense at Fort Meade, Md., let district officials know Thursday he was no longer interested in the position.

In addition to his time at Fort Meade, Swint served as superintendent at the Unalaska School District in Alaska from 2021 to 2022, and principal at North Slope Borough City School in Barrow, Alaska, from 2018 to 2020.

That leaves Kim Spacek as the sole finalist for the position of the 900-student school district.

Before serving as superintendent at Mountain View, Spacek served as superintendent at Inchelium School District in Washington state from 2013 to 2023. Before that, he served as superintendent and elementary principal at Pomeroy School District from 2008 to 2013.

Spacek earned his bachelor's degree in education (industrial arts) from Eastern Washington University before earning a master's degree in industrial education at the University of Idaho. He earned a master's degree in principal administration from Eastern Washington University.

Spacek will be taken on a district tour from 1-4 p.m. Monday, June 3, followed by a meet-and-greet session with staff will be held at 5 p.m. at Priest River Lamanna High School's library.

A community meet-and-greet session will be held from 6-8 p.m. in the high school's cafeteria.

On Tuesday, June 4, Spacek is slated to be at a special board meeting in the PRLHS cafeteria. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. with an executive session set for an interview.

Executive sessions are closed to the public to give officials a chance to discuss confidential information; however, all decisions must be made in open session.
