Cornel Rasor will represent us well

| November 1, 2024 1:00 AM

Cornel Rasor grew up in Bonner County, has been a local businessman for 43 years, served as a Bonner County commissioner, and was appointed as an Idaho representative to finish out the term of former Representative Sage Dixon.

Cornel is in tune with local issues for the people in District 1. He will represent all the people and not special interest groups. He will adhere to the Idaho and U.S. Constitutions. His background has prepared him for the effective leadership that we need in these turbulent times.

The background of his opponent is starkly different. She moved here nine years ago and wrote in her mailer that a vote for her was “a vote for pragmatic … leadership.” That means leading by doing what works in the short term regardless of whether it is right or has future bad consequences. Her mailer also states: “Our state legislators don’t have the right to dictate our choices.” Her statement is untrue and shows a lack of understanding about the constitutional role of the very office she is seeking. On her website, she states: “Healthcare is a basic right in the United States.” She cites no authority for her statement because there is none.

The Nov. 5 election is too crucial for us to risk the danger of a misinformed newcomer with no experience. Instead, we will be wise to vote for Cornel Rasor as an experienced and proven leader who understands our issues, will listen to our concerns, and represent us well.
