Matthee has ideas to lower cost of living

This question was asked of me in a letter favoring my opponent: How do I plan to lower the cost of living for our North Idaho families? First, let me say that my platform on my website, kmattheeforidah.com, is extremely detailed on this and other issues, much more so than that of most candidates. My answer:  

Bring back the index to the homeowners exemption so property taxes are more fairly distributed between homeowner and commercial properties, and reflect increases in home values. 

Stop turning away federal grant money for child care that our tax dollars have already paid for. 

Fund the state Workforce Housing Fund — empty for the past two years. 

Switch to a progressive state income tax system so middle-income families don’t pay a disproportionate share of taxes. 

Scrap the grocery tax as other states have done.
