Nov. 3, 1974 – ‘EVEL’ TAKES TUMBLE

Chris “Evel” Pietsch tumbled from his little red wagon in an aborted attempt to jump a Datsun pickup as the grand finale of the pep rally before last week’s Lewiston-Sandpoint football game. Seated in the wagon, Pietsch shot down a 6-ft. ramp, dropped like a rock, then tumbled down the landing ramp into a pile of mattresses amid cheers as the student body of Sandpoint High got itself up for the game.

$13,500 GRANT FOR NEW SENIOR CENTER

Bonner County Senior Citizens Council received $13,500 in revenue sharing funds from the County Commissioners for a new center, although its final location hasn’t yet been resolved. The City of Sandpoint will provide the site for the building and a long-term lease on the property. Mayor Les Brown suggested a location across from Price Rite market on Main street, a site unanimously endorsed by the seniors at a special meeting Monday, but several council men prefer to offer a location east of the rifle range in Pine Street Park. The final location will not be established until the Nov. 12 council meeting.
