PANIDA TO CELEBRATE 22ND ANNIVERSARY
The Panida theatre this month will celebrate its 22nd anniversary. Owner F.C. Weskil entered the theatre business in Sandpoint 25 years ago with the purchase of show houses run by Jack Gardner. Shortly after, Weskil began plans for construction of the Panida, which opened its doors in Nov., 1927. Mr. and Mrs. Weskil are now largely retired from the show business; for the past four years the theatres have been managed by Floyd Gray. “During the past 22 years the Panida has kept steady pace with developments in the business,” said Mr. Gray. “In the past 18 months, completely new projection equipment has been installed and all the seats have been replaced by new, more comfortable chairs. This month a new automatic heating system will be put into operation.” Designs have been approved for a new marquee, to be built in the spring, which will cover the entire front of the building instead of just the theatre entrance as does the present one. For the anniversary celebration all month, some of the best picture releases available have been obtained.
