SANDPOINT — The Sandpoint Nordic Club celebrated the arrival of winter and the strength of community spirit with its annual Winter Welcome fundraiser held Oct. 26 at the Pine Street Woods Outdoor Recreation Center.

The event drew a crowd eager to engage in an afternoon of connection, featuring raffles, a silent auction, beverages, bonfires, games, and delicious s’mores. Participants not only shared their love for Nordic skiing but also showcased the generosity that defines Sandpoint.

The success of the event was made possible by the dedication of club members, both new and returning, along with the support of local businesses. The Sandpoint Nordic Club extends its deepest gratitude to key partners including Powder Hound Pizza, which donated beverages; Syringa Cyclery, which contributed a fantastic Touring Cross Country Ski Package; and Schweitzer, which provided two Nordic ski passes. In addition, silent auction items were provided by an anonymous donor. The fundraiser raised a significant amount of money to support club initiatives.

Funds raised during the Winter Welcome, combined with membership dues, will enable the Nordic Club to maintain seven kilometers of trails, offer educational programs, and ensure that Nordic skiing remains accessible and affordable for everyone in the community. As the season unfolds, the Sandpoint Nordic Club looks forward to hosting a variety of events and meaningful initiatives.

In addition, tonight at Mickduff's Brewing Company from 5 to 8 p.m., the club will also be hosting "Get Plowed," a joint fundraiser with the Kaniksu Land Trust and the Pend Oreille Pedalers for Pine Street Woods winter road maintenance. Raffles for merchandise and experiences will be held along with the ability to meet Schweitzer Mountain Patrol avalanche dogs.
