What happened to honoring your opponent?
I was truly disgusted by the article about the recent comment by football radio broadcasters. Years ago, we were listening on the radio to a Bulldogs football game at Memorial Field. They were playing one of the smaller schools and one of the opposing players was injured. The broadcaster said that this was actually good for Sandpoint because the other team had a short bench.
We turned the radio off and have never listened to another one. And never will. We discussed who we should call or contact, but realized that there would be no action taken unless we could produce a recording of it.
When we watch sports of any level, we first wish for no injuries to any players. Then, we hope for a close, competitive game. And finally, we’d like our team to win.
Sadly, the “honor your opponent” lesson seems to be lacking here.
