COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Dickinson helps lead Walla Walla to NWAC semifinals in 40th career start

Evan Dickinson, Walla Walla CC Soccer

Evan, a 2023 Sandpoint High graduate, led the Warriors defense to two recent overtime playoff wins over Skagit Valley (2-1) and Highline (2-1) to help Walla Walla, which is 15-2-4, to the NWAC semifinals. Evan has started 40 straight games, 21 this season for the Warriors, which are set to face Peninsula Friday at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. The winner of that match will face the winner of Everett-Clark in the NWAC Championship on Sunday.

Emma Lucas, Big Bend CC Volleyball

Emma, a setter and 2023 Bonners Ferry High graduate, recently finished off her volleyball career with the Lady Vikings. During her sophomore campaign, Emma posted a breakthrough year, recording 654 assists, 11 aces, 208 digs, 12 kills and 18 total blocks across 102 sets played. Over her entire career, she had 1,056 assists, 23 aces, 370 digs, 22 kills and 28 total blocks across 184 sets. After a 2-23 record during her freshman year, Emma led Big Bend to an 11-18 record this season, their first double-digit win season since 2019.

Brandon Casey, University of Montana Football

Brandon, a 2020 Sandpoint High graduate, also made his 40th career start on the offensive line this past Saturday for the Griz, which lost 30-14 to No. 4 UC Davis in a game that was broadcasted in a primetime slot on ESPN2. Casey helped Montana, which is 7-3 and hosts Portland State this upcoming Saturday, to 15 first downs and 286 total yards — 209 passing and 77 rushing.

Camille Ussher, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country

A 2022 Bonners Ferry High graduate, Camille had a breakthrough race this past Friday at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship, which was hosted by Multnomah University at the Rose City Golf Club in Portland. Camille ran a new personal best 6,000-meter time of 23 minutes and 29 seconds (6:17/mi) to finish second for the Lady Warriors and 15th overall out of 80 runners. Head coach Mike Collins said Camille, who received All-CCC honors for her top 15 finish, "had a big day and came through when the team really needed her." Lewis-Clark, which finished third out of 11 scoring teams, will compete next at the NAIA National Championship on Nov. 22 in Colombia, Mo. 

Abigail Shumaker, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country 

Abigail, a 2020 Bonners Ferry High graduate, was fifth for the Lady Warriors and 25th overall at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship on Friday with a 6,000-meter time of 24 minutes and 9 seconds (6:28/mi).

Connor Alexander, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country

Connor, a 2022 Bonners Ferry High graduate, was eighth for the Warriors and 47th overall out of 95 runners at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship on Friday with an 8,000-meter time of 27 minutes and 9 seconds (5:27/mi). Lewis-Clark's men finished third out of 11 scoring teams, just like the women.

Kimbo Yarnell, Spokane CC Soccer

A 2023 Sandpoint High graduate, Kimbo has now started all 14 games and recorded 11 shots so far this season at midfield for the Sasquatch, which are undefeated at 10-0-4 and face Peninsula in an NWAC semifinal match on Friday at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. The winner of that match will face the winner of Bellevue-Columbia Basin in the NWAC Championship on Sunday. 

Aubree Lane, Spokane CC Volleyball

Aubree, a 2024 Sandpoint High graduate, recently finished off her freshman year with the Sasquatch, which finished the season 14-14, just missing out on an NWAC playoff spot. Aubree, across 51 sets this season, had 148 kills, a .157 hitting percentage, 13 assists, 13 aces, 369 serve receptions, 176 digs and 19 total blocks.

Jerzie Bair, College of Idaho Volleyball

Jerzie, a 2019 Bonners Ferry High graduate, continues to perform for the 18-12 Lady Yotes. In the College of Idaho's regular season finale on Saturday, Jerzie posted a career-high six digs while adding a season-high two solo blocks and six kills in a 3-1 win over Multnomah. The College of Idaho will return to action on Friday and Saturday for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championship tournament.

Jett Longanecker, College of Idaho Soccer

A 2024 Sandpoint High graduate, Jett recently finished out his freshman year for the Yotes, which finished the season 9-4-4 after falling to Eastern Oregon (2-1) in the Cascade Collegiate Conference quarterfinals. Jett made appearances in 11 games, starting two, and racked up a total 406 minutes as a defender. In his second career start, Jett recorded a career-high 71 minutes in a 1-1 tie against Warner Pacific. Jett will return to action with the College of Idaho track and field team, which has their first meet set for Jan. 26, the Stacy Dragila Invitational hosted by Idaho State University.

Marley Burgess-Duquette, Wenatchee Valley College Soccer

A 2024 Priest River High graduate, Marley, a forward, saw action in six games this year and started in four for the Lady Knights, which finished the season 0-14.
