Sandpoint's Cadence Skibitsky, a junior utility player, recently announced she will be continuing her softball career at Macalester College (NCAA Division III) in St. Paul, Minn. During her sophomore year, Skibitsky was one of two North Idaho players named to the 4A All-Idaho Second Team and received All-Inland Empire League honors for her efforts; she also received league honors during her freshman year.

During her sophomore season, Skibitsky had a .446 batting average and a .557 on-base percentage across 70 plate appearances. As the Bulldogs’ primary center fielder, she had 25 hits, which included seven doubles and two home runs, and drove in 13 RBIs, scored 24 runs and stole 11 bases. Defensively, she put up a .891 fielding percentage and had 42 total putouts.

"We are extremely proud and excited for Cadence," Sandpoint High head coach Leah Platt said. "This is a huge accomplishment for her and is well deserved. Many don't know the time, dedication and hard work that Cadence puts in to succeed on and off the field. With this, Cadence will also serve as a great example to others on what can be achieved with desire and dedication. It has a been a pleasure to watch her mature and grow as a teammate and a leader. We look forward to watching and following her collegiate career, but until then, we will enjoy her leadership, grit, and love of the game in our program for the next two years."
