HARRISON — Desi Humphrey had a team-high 22 points and six steals, Paityn Yount a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, and the visiting Lady Spartans downed the Lady Warriors by a 52-point margin in their season-opening win on Monday at Kootenai High.

Priest River started the game on a 16-0 run and finished it with an 18-0 run, shutting Kootenai out in the fourth quarter.

A senior, Humphrey was lights out from behind the three-point line, and in addition to her points and steals, added five rebounds and three assists. In addition to her double-double, Yount, also a senior, added an impressive five assists. Senior Lizzie McCracken also contributed in a big way for the Lady Spartans, racking up 14 points, six assists and four steals.

Also posting great performances for Priest River were junior Aleigha Jensen, who registered 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals, freshman McKinley Burgess-Duquette, who had six points, five rebounds and two steals off the bench, and Haley Braae, who produced four steals.

Priest River (1-0) will look to continue their strong start on Thursday when they host a rematch with Kootenai for their home opener.
