Why does gas cost so much in Sandpoint?
In the past, many letters have been written about the high gasoline prices in Sandpoint. I just filled up our Hummer at Walmart in Coeur d’Alene and paid $2.28 a gallon.
Here in Sandpoint as of Nov. 16, 2024, the cost of gasoline was $3.35 to $3.40 a gallon, which is $1.17 higher. Buying 28 gallons of regular gasoline as I did I saved $32.75. Why is gasoline so high in Sandpoint? Gas is less expensive in Bonners Ferry, Clark Fork, and other cities surrounding Sandpoint. Maybe Sandpoint has a city tax on gasoline that we don’t know about? Or is it because the distributer wants to make more money in Sandpoint then in other cities? Or maybe our politicos and city officials need more gas when they speak.
I wish someone who can actually explain this would write a letter of explanation to The Bonner County Daily Bee so it could be printed in the paper letting us all know the real reason as to why.
