PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Priest River takes down Kootenai in home opener

PRIEST RIVER — Senior Lizzie McCracken scored a team-high 17 points, senior Desi Humphrey added 13 and nine steals, and the Lady Spartans rolled to a 66-18 victory over the Lady Warriors in their home opener Thursday at Priest River High.
It was much of the same for Priest River, which took down Kootenai by a nearly identical score of 68-16 this past Monday. The Lady Spartans started the game on a 20-4 run and ended it with a 13-0 run, racked up 29 steals, and dished out assists on 16 of their 29 made baskets.
In addition to her 17 points, McCracken added six steals and five assists while senior Haley Braae scored 10 points and registered five steals, four rebounds and two assists. Senior Paityn Yount was once again dominant down low, posting seven points, nine rebounds, five steals and three assists. Junior Aleigha Jensen added nine points and five rebounds.
Off the bench, sophomore Haylee Jepson had six points and three rebounds, freshman McKinley Burgess-Duquette four points, five rebounds and two steals for Priest River (2-0), which won't see action again until Dec. 3 when they host Genesis Prep.
