BTAA offering free pet microchipping, vaccinations
SANDPOINT — The Better Together Animal Alliance is offering free pet microchipping and vaccinations Saturday at the Carousel of Smiles Fun Fair at the Bonner County Fairgrounds.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with services available for the first 150 pets. Free ID tags will also be distributed.
The microchips help reunite lost pets with their owners by providing permanent identification that can be scanned by veterinarians, shelters and animal control officers. Staff will assist owners in registering their contact information during the event.
Available vaccines include rabies, DHPP for dogs and FVRCP for cats. Deworming treatment will be offered for both species. Dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers.
The alliance will provide ID tags with QR codes that can be scanned to quickly locate pet owners.
The vaccination program is funded through Petco Love's national initiative, which has provided 3 million free vaccines to pets in need. The ASPCA Northern Tier Shelter Initiative is supplying the microchips.
