Ponderay ice rink to debut Friday

PONDERAY — At 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, the area’s lone ice rink will welcome its first skaters.

During the grand opening of The Pond Presented by STCU, organizers will cut the ribbon on the facility, light a tree and host an inaugural evening of skating under the lights. 

Creating the facility, which is located across the street from Better Together Animal Alliance off Kootenai Cutoff Road, has been a years-long joint initiative between the city of Ponderay and nonprofit North Idaho Ice. Contributions from donors, local companies and numerous volunteers made the rink a reality for the upcoming winter. 

Tickets for the event are $10 for youth under 18 and $15 for adults, and are only available online at skatethepond.com.
