Ronald S. Adamik, 79

| November 27, 2024 1:00 AM

Ronald Steven Adamik, 79, of Spirit Lake, Idaho, passed away Nov. 20, 2024, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Born on July 25, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo., Ron lived a life dedicated to service, family, and his passions.

He was the beloved husband of Judith Adamik; the proud father of Stephen Adamik and Jason Adamik; and a cherished grandfather to Emerson, Oliver, and Macoy. Ron was also a stepfather to Sherry (deceased), Gina, Karen, and Katherine.

Ron served honorably in the United States Air Force in 1966 before transitioning into a career as a police officer. His commitment to law enforcement extended beyond his time on the force; he worked tirelessly as a union representative, advocating for the rights, benefits, and working conditions of both active and retired officers. Ron's dedication to his fellow officers was unmatched, and he spent his career fighting for their well-being.

A man of diverse interests, Ron had a lifelong love for guitars and 1960s rock music. He was also an avid collector of guns, guitars, and American military memorabilia. Ron enjoyed taking classes at the local college, where his dry sense of humor often kept his professors on their toes — especially when he would occasionally carry his off-duty weapon into class. In his later years, Ron served as a range master for retired police officers, and he taught firearms safety and hunter education classes. A staunch advocate for the First and Second Amendments, Ron was always ready to defend individual rights and liberties.

Known for his practical jokes and dry wit, Ron's humor often left people unsure whether he was joking, but it was always delivered with love and affection. His ability to make others laugh and his loyalty to his family and friends will be deeply missed.

A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave. Hayden, Idaho.
