Local Special Olympics athletes excel at regional bowling tourney

Out of over 100 athletes from throughout the region, the Sandpoint Monarchs had 19 athletes place at the Special Olympics' North Regional Bowling tournament held this past Saturday at Sunset Bowling Center in Coeur d'Alene.

Battling against the Moscow Tigers, Lewiston Knights, Kootenai Eagles, Silver Valley Miners and Bonners Ferry Mountaineers, the following athletes placed in their respective divisions: 1st place — Alyssa Knapp, Shaine Parsons, Jackson Barth, Renee Cunningham, Kevin Collins, Michelle Couldry and Katie Kludt; 2nd place — Race Barrett and Kathy Strandy; 3rd place — Bob Liectman, John Painter, Roy Burrow, and Lukas Birdsell; 4th place — Chelsea Dennis, David Hamilton, Kyle Horowitz, Eliyah Allen, and Hayley Thompson; 5th place — Missy Laker.
