William Barton Miller

William Barton Miller was born Sept. 26, 1938, In Akron, Ohio, to C.O. Miller and Eleanor Myers Miller. He passed Aug. 18, 2024, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

He was the oldest of three boys: Bill, Larry, and Ray. 

The family moved to California after graduation and Bill then graduated from Cal Poly where he was on the rodeo team. His brothers also graduated from Cal Poly. He returned to Akron where he began teaching at Coventry High School, his alma mater. 

He married Nancy Jean Becher on June 29, 1963. 

They moved to Sandpoint in August 1971 with their children, Jennifer, 4 years old; and Steven, 10 months old. 

He began at Sandpoint Junior High on Euclid as a teacher and assistant principal. He became the first principal of Stidwell when it opened, then moved to Sandpoint High School as assistant principal until he retired in 1999. 

He so much enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cowboy shooting with Larry and Ray. 

He was preceded in death by C.O., Eleanor, and his daughter, Jennifer. 

He is survived by Nancy and Steven; brother Larry and his wife, Barbara and children Rae and Randy; and Ray and his wife, Betsy and children Ann and Meridith. 

No memorial service is planned at this time.
