POST FALLS — At The Links Golf Club, Sandpoint High sophomore Bode Eacret shot a 7-over-par 80 for the boys, senior Taylor Mire a 2-over-par 75 for the girls, capturing medalist honors, as both of the Bulldogs' golf teams took home 5A Inland Empire League titles Thursday.

On the boys' side, all four teams were within 11 strokes. Eacret, who placed third, was followed by an impressive finish by junior Logan Roos, who carded an 83 and finished tied for sixth. Junior Micah Young shot an 85 and tied for eighth while junior Everett Gilman finished ninth overall with a score of 86 to round out the Bulldogs' top four. Sandpoint bested runner-up Moscow by five strokes.

"All the coaches talked beforehand and we knew all the teams were close — we really did," Sandpoint High head coach Mike Deprez said. "Everybody else played well and nobody threw in the towel ... we were just a little bit more consistent, a little bit more grounded, and held it together. When you're at districts, it does get a bit tense when it gets this close."

Deprez mentioned how Eacret set the tone early and Roos played incredible in the No. 2 spot, but also reiterated how everyone's contributions, including junior Cooper Zimmerman's 90 in the No. 5 spot, were necessary in order to win.

"All five of them feel like they left strokes out there and that's the mentality we need going into state," coach Deprez said. "They all played well and their swings are looking great — they're all in a good place."

On the girls' side, the Lady Bulldogs finished 1-2-3-4-5 with a total score of 310, 105 strokes better than runner-up Lewiston. Senior Raegan Samuels shot a 77, seniors Demi Driggs and Alexa Tuinstra 79's, and senior Claire Loutzenhiser an 85.

"It's absolutely insane," coach Deprez said of the girls shooting a total score of 310. "We're spoiled with Taylor and Lexi always playing well and our 3-4-5 golfers always knew they were going to be the ones to help us achieve our team goal and make that next step ... and all three of them have done just that. Raegan, Demi, and Claire played incredible golf. I have seen a lot of good teams out there, but I have never seen five girls playing as well as these five girls are playing right now."

Both teams advance to the 5A State Championship set to be held Oct. 11-12 at the River's Edge Golf Course in Burley.
