City seeks names for painted plows
SANDPOINT — Thanks to community cooperation and support from local businesses, city streets will be visited by some colorful new characters this winter.
Sandpoint’s Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation Commission recently launched its Paint the Plows initiative, which added personality to five city snowplows by giving them unique, expressive faces.
According to the commission, the project aims to brighten the winter landscape and promote community involvement in art.
“Painting the snowplows has not only added a splash of color to our city but has also strengthened our community bonds,” said Elle Susnis, chair of the commission. “We hope to continue this initiative every year, bringing creativity and community together.”
To bring the project to life, Susnis partnered with Sandpoint businesses. Miller Paint Bucket supported the initiative, and Creations for Sandpoint helped enlist local artists and residents to decorate the equipment.
Now, the commission is asking the public to submit creative names for the plows. Ballot boxes will be available at City Hall and Miller Paint Bucket until the end of October, and the winning names will be announced at an upcoming Sandpoint City Council meeting.
