PREP ROUNDUP: Priest River boys soccer shines in senior night win

Priest River 5, Lakeland JV 0
PRIEST RIVER — On senior night, seniors Connor Stevens, Nate Stifel and Cameron Howell all scored before halftime as the host Spartans dominated Lakeland's junior varsity squad on Monday at Priest River High.
Stevens started off the scoring during the 11th minute off an assist from Howell, who scored an unassisted goal during the 22nd minute. Off a corner kick from Stevens, Stifel put one in the back of the net during the 38th minute to put the Spartans up three. Sophomore Mitchell Ball added unassisted goals in the 46th and 67th minutes to give Priest River the 5-0 advantage.
In addition to Stevens, Stifel and Howell, Carter Cook, Kashas Wright, Ryan Bell and Henry White were also honored for senior night.
Junior Baylor White had four saves in between the posts for the 6-6-1 Spartans, which host Coeur d'Alene Charter on Thursday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Sandpoint JV 9, Priest River 1
SANDPOINT — At War Memorial Field, senior Kylee Swoboda had 14 saves and senior Haley Braae scored a late goal as the visiting Lady Spartans' fell to Sandpoint's junior varsity squad on Tuesday.
Ayla Hull posted a hat trick while Romie Lovin, Vivian Haag, Alyssa Porter, Aleeya Anaya, Addison Williams, and Rae Olson all had one goal each for Sandpoint. Lydia Owens, Lovin, and Haag also recorded assists.
Priest River (0-10-1), who was playing down two players in the contest, hosts Coeur d'Alene Charter on Thursday.

SANDPOINT — At Les Rogers Court, the host Lady Bulldogs fell in straight sets (9-25, 18-25, 15-25) to the visiting Lady Hawks in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Sandpoint High head coach said after a rough first set, the team settled in and did some good things. Wahlin specifically noted the play of junior defensive specialist Gretta Beck.
"The most dialed in serve receive I have seen all season long with the scrappiest defense; she was supporting her attackers to swing away with confidence," coach Wahlin said of Beck. "I could not have asked from a better performance from her tonight."
Sandpoint (0-12) hosts Lewiston on Oct. 17.
Genesis Prep 3, Clark Fork 0
POST FALLS — At The Courts at Real Life, the visiting Lady Cats fell in straight sets (13-25, 8-25, 10-25) to the host Lady Jaguars in a 2A Scenic Idaho Conference match Tuesday.
"At the end of the day, Genesis Prep has developed a well-dialed team of experienced players," Clark Fork High head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. "They serve tough and pass well. There were some awesome rallies, but we struggled to convert points."
Junior Piper Scarlett had three kills and an ace, senior Kayla Swales four aces, sophomore Nora-Jean Hoy seven digs, and senior Hannah Thompson eight digs for Clark Fork.
"Tonight, Hannah passed 26 balls at an incredibly accurate rate," coach Kiebert-Carey said. "She was fearless and it was awesome to see her shine like that."
Clark Fork (4-11) will play again on Oct. 15 in the first round of the 2A Scenic Idaho Conference district tournament against an opponent and at a date and time yet to be determined.
