PREP VOLLEYBALL: Priest River rallies to defeat Timberlake
Priest River 3, Timberlake 2
SPIRIT LAKE — Down 2-1, and 8-1 in the fourth set, the visiting Lady Spartans rallied to take home a nonleague victory in five sets (25-17, 15-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-13) over the host Lady Tigers on Tuesday.
Priest River High head coach Katlyn Ward said she had to shift some players around due to injuries — one move that really paid off was putting senior Paityn Yount, who led the Lady Spartans with 10 kills, at outside hitter.
"Paityn killed it outside; she was an attacking machine," coach Ward said. "Our middle shut down their middles with big blocks and with so many block touches."
On offense, senior Desi Humphrey added eight kills while junior Jayda Storro, who had a team-high 22 assists, and junior Aleigha Jensen, who had three blocks, served up two aces each. On defense, junior Kenadie Kingery added two blocks, junior Toni Marinello 22 digs for Priest River (8-5), which travels to Newport on Thursday.
