Travers lot to be temporarily closed
SANDPOINT — Starting on Monday, the Travers Park parking lot near Pine Street will be closed for two weeks as the city regrades, repaves, and restripes the area.
The closure is slated to run Oct. 14-25; the outdoor tennis course, bike skills course, and asphalt path on the southeast side of the park will be inaccessible, but the skatepark will remain open.
Public parking will be available off Lincoln Street near Great Northern Park, and all ball fields in the area will remain open.
The paving project is part of the renovation of the south end of Travers Park which includes the new James E. Russell Sports Center and a new inclusive playground and splash pad, both anticipated to be opened later this year.
The repaving initiative has an estimated budget of $120,000; funding is provided from the donation from Jim and Ginny Russell for the James E. Russell Sports Center and the City of Sandpoint Parks Capital Budget.
