IPUC approves Avista rate applications
Idaho regulators approved two applications from Avista Utilities that are expected to lower customers' rates.
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission reviewed Avista's power cost adjustment and fixed cost adjustment, filed in July.
The power cost adjustment reflects differences between actual power generation and purchasing costs versus rates charged to customers. Avista said power supply costs were lower than retail rates last year due to higher wholesale electric prices.
The fixed cost adjustment separates utility revenue from customer energy use. Avista said weather and energy program participation drove the proposed adjustments.
Starting Oct. 1, 2024, Idaho residential customers using an average 927 kilowatt hours monthly will see bills drop $3.09, from $104.18 to $101.09.
