PREP SWIMMING: Sandpoint duals Skyline at YMCA

SANDPOINT — Sophomore Reina Montecchi, senior Ava de Leeuw and freshman Lou Foust all won two individual events each as the Sandpoint High swim team competed in a hotly contested dual against Skyline on Friday at the Litehouse YMCA.
Montecchi won the 50 free and 100 free, de Leeuw the 200 free and 400 free, Foust the 400 free and 100 back. Sandpoint's girls fell just two points shy of the visiting Grizzlies, 85-83, while the boys also fell by a small margin, 91-79.
"I'm really excited with Ava de Leeuws attitude, Sandpoint High head coach Greg Jackson said. "Her outlook on the sport and her races has shifted this year, which I think will greatly improve her success throughout this season."
